Salve Maracaípe

Very oft we hear about national conscience, political conscience, black conscience, moral, ethic, environmental awareness, etc. All the people have conscience, however, what matters right now is a good conscience.

As said by Immanuel Kant in his critique of the pure reason:  “There are two things that fill me with admiration: the starry sky and conscience in the man’s chest.”

If you have already been to Porto de Galinhas and Maracaípe on the coast of Pernambuco, you were certainly amazed with the beauty, the nice people, the mangrove, the surfing waves and the weather of those beaches. However, if you have a good conscience, you were also disappointed with the unsustainable development of a city around those beachs as well as the degradation of the environment and the irresponsible tourism market.

Facing this reality, in special due to the highway connecting Porto de Galinhas to Maracaípe, it was born a sense of global preservation, collectivity, altruism, social and ecological preservation and love the environment.

In that sense, created by men and women with good conscience, came the Salve Maracaípe (Save Maracaípe) group, with the objectives of preventing and reducing the environmental degradation in the region (Porto de Galinhas – Maracaípe) as well as ensuring the sustainable development of this important and strategic coastal ecosystem.

Any help from anyone from anywhere is welcome. Our financial costs (transportation, material for the protests) are very limited because with we still have no sponsorship. All the money comes either from our own pockets or from the sale of t-shirts of the group.
